Enrolment
Places are allocated in order of receipt of the enrolment form together with a deposit of $200.00 to confirm your position.
Intending students will be provided with information regarding Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC).
Qualifications
Applicants will need to be over the age of 18 years.
Applicants will need to read, write & converse well in English.
If in doubt, please contact the Training Coordinator to arrange an interview.
Cancellation
Cancellations within 21 days of the course commencement will incur an administrative fee of $100.00 deducted from your deposit.
Total deposit will be forfeited if cancellation occurs within 7 days of the course commencement.
No refund will apply for cancellations after the course commencement.
All course materials/texts to be returned before a refund is actioned.
Fees
Specialist Diagnostic Services Pty Ltd will safeguard the funds paid by students in accordance with relevant legal requirements.
Specialist Diagnostic Services Pty Ltd will properly document their contractual and financial relationships with students and provide students and clients with copies of this documentation.
Where they are unable to provide agreed services they will make a refund to students in accordance with relevant Commonwealth and State legislation or ensure the provision of equivalent courses.
TOTAL COST OF THE COURSE IS $1600.00 (INC GST). A DEPOSIT OF $200.00 WILL CONFIRM YOUR POSITION ON THE COURSE.
PAYMENT IS REQUIRED PRIOR TO THE COURSE COMMENCEMENT. IF PAID GREATER THAN 7 DAYS BEFORE THE COURSE COMMENCEMENT, THE CERTIFICATE III IN PATHOLOGY WILL BE DISCOUNTED TO $1500.00
DEPOSITS MAY BE TRANSFERRED TO ANOTHER COURSE.

Induction
Students will be given further information after enrolment that will guide them through their studies & outline in detail their rights & responsibilities. Students undertaking any of our courses will be supplied with the Student Handbook.
Disciplinary procedures
Specialist Diagnostic Services Pty Ltd reserves the right to terminate the training and/or assessment of any student found guilty of academic misconduct (eg, plagiarism, cheating, collusion) or any student who behaves in a disruptive or unsafe manner, without refund of monies paid.
Client support
The support offered by SP includes options in learning, guidance offered by Training staff, telephone/e-mail support, training needs analysis (study plans etc) & Recognition of Current Competency(RCC) assessments.
Flexible learning & assessment
Learning materials can be customised to best suit a student’s needs. SP is committed to offering flexible learning & assessment procedures to offer the optimum training experience for students.
Welfare & guidance services
SP endeavours to provide welfare & guidance to all students/clients. This includes review of payment schedules when requested, learning pathways, possible RCC opportunities, provision for special needs, provision for special cultural & religious needs (where applicable).
Staff responsibilities for Access & Equity issues
All SP staff are required to act in accordance with SP’s Code of Practice & ensure that all student’s/clients are made aware of their rights & responsibilities.
Assessment tasks will be assessed flexibly- taking into account student’s specific needs.
Privacy
SP will keep documented procedures to assure the integrity, accuracy & currency of records. These records will be retained & archived for a period of 30 years & transfer of records will be consistent with State registering body requirements. SP is committed to handling student/client information in accordance with the Privacy Act. All records are managed securely & confidentially & are available for perusal upon request.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC)
SP recognises that you may be able to demonstrate a particular competency on the basis of prior learning, skills gained in the workforce or skills otherwise gained.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be granted if you can demonstrate competency in all the performance criteria in the elements of a particular unit of competency (from a training package) or all of the learning outcomes in a particular module (from an accredited course).
Students must apply for RPL no less than 2 weeks prior to the commencement of the course.
If you think you may be eligible for RPL in a prospective course you can pick up an RPL Information Pack from the Commercial Course Co-ordinator on 02 9005 7124 to discuss your suitability or download the RPL Info Sheet.
Supporting evidence must be submitted with your application. It is the student’s responsibility to provide the evidence to support their claim for RPL.
Client feedback
SP encourages clients & stakeholders to provide feedback on products & services. If at any time, a client feels that SP staff or operations are not abiding by this code of practice they are encouraged to report their complaint or suggestion following the procedure outlined in the Student Handbook.

PLEASE NOTE
As a part of the course, students are expected to collect blood from each other (this is not compulsory). All collections are supervised and standard precautions are used at all times. We ask that students wear appropriate clothing for the course, including shoes that are covered (not sandals). Morning tea is provided but students may wish to bring their own lunch or purchase lunch from our coffee shop.
