Why have I received an SMS text message about an invoice?

You received an SMS because your visit included one or more tests that are not eligible for bulk billing or may attract an out-of-pocket fee.

When we have your mobile number on file, we send a secure SMS link so you can view and pay your invoice online.

Why this happens

Some pathology tests are:

  • not covered by Medicare
  • privately billed by request of your doctor
  • part of insurance, employment, immigration, legal or non-Medicare services
  • specialised tests that incur laboratory processing fees

In these cases, an invoice is issued after your test has been processed.

Any cost estimate you may have received at the time of collection is a guide only.

The final amount can only be confirmed once your test has been assessed by Medicare or your private health fund (if applicable).
